Twitterpated

One of my goals for 2010 is making Aglow Salon more accessible to all my clients. Since many of you check your twitter acount more than you check your email, I’ve decided to use twitter as a way for you to make appointments.

As many of you know, following me on Twitter at twitter.com/aglowsalon is a great way to learn about the product of the month, specials, and hair tips. Now you’ll also be able to book those last minute appointments more quickly and efficiently. I encourage all my clients to book their next appointment at least a month in advance, but I understand that is not possible for everyone and sometimes you just need to sneak in for a quick cut or color.

Starting February 1st I will be posting my availability for the following day on my twitter account. You’ll be able to direct message me with the services you’d like and your preferred appointment time. Just remember the 3 easy steps:

1. Follow me @ twitter.com/aglowsalon to learn about my last minute availability.
2. Direct message me with the services you’d like and your prefered appt. time.
3. I’ll direct message you and confirm the services and your appt. time.

Don't forget to tell your friends and family to follow Aglow Salon on Twitter. As always any two referrals earns you a complimentary hair cut. Thanks so much for being a client of Aglow Salon. Twitter is just my newest way to keep you in the know, I mean, In the Glow. ;)

Bump-it Review

The Bump-it does not do-it for me. I'm giving it 2 out of 5 stars. The main reason I don't like it is because it comes in this one size fits all shape. Everyone has a different shaped head and the Bump-it does not mold to each persons head shape. The key to having the perfect poof is making it look natural and effortless. I think you can always tell when someone has a Bump-it in their hair and it looks too "fixed". Another problem I have with the Bump-it is that it doesn't stay in place. As the day went on it slid further and further down my head. The only reason I would tell people to buy the Bump-it is if you are desperate. If you can absolutely not get a poof in your hair by teasing, then maybe you should give it a try. However, check back soon to learn how to get the perfect poof without using the Bump-it. Think of how impressed all your friends and co-workers will be when they see your poof and ask you 'How did you do that?' and you can tell them you didn't even need the Bump-it. Product of the month for August

August is here and I think you should treat yourself to some luxury shampoo and conditioner. That's exactly why I'm featuring the S Factor Diamond Dreams shampoo and conditioner as the product of the month. The Diamond Dreams line is an ultra luxe complex with diamond dust, cashmere, champagne extracts and crushed pearl. These components indulge your hair and provide brilliant shine, ultra hydration, superior strength, and antioxidant power. Now I know what you are thinking, 'Diamonds, cashmere, and champagne? Why would you put that in shampoo and conditioner?' Well, I'll tell you:

*The diamond powder adds superior shine without weighing your hair down.
*The cashmere (hydrolyzed wool) adds smoothness and softness to your hair.
*The champagne (wine extract) has antioxidants to strengthen your hair.
*As a little bonus...the crushed pearl gives your hair manageability.

The Diamond Dreams shampoo is sulfate-free, which makes it great for color treated hair, and the Diamond Dreams conditioner has a moderate conditioning factor so it's great for all hair types. Like all the S Factor products it smells great. The fragrance is blackberry lychee. Regular retail price is $27 for the shampoo and $28 for the conditioner, but during the month of August it's only $21 for the shampoo and $22 for the conditioner.

Additionally, if you mention my blog you will receive

an additional $10 off any service...

when purchasing the Diamond Dreams shampoo and conditioner. Take advantage of this special offer while it lasts. As always, I'm doing my best to keep you in the know...I mean in the glow.

July is free hair cut month!

Want a free hair cut? Of course you do! During the month of July all you have to do is refer ONE new client to Aglow Salon and you will receive a complimentary hair cut as a thank you. Take advantage of this offer, it only comes around once a year. The highest compliment for me is a referral and I appreciate each and every one of you. So thank you, thank you, thank you!
Also, the featured product for July is S Factor Papaya Leave-in Moisture Spray. Summer is in full swing, and undoubtedly your hair will suffer if it has a lack of moisture. Using the Papaya Leave-in Moisture spray will give your hair the extra moisture and protection it needs during these hot summer months. This light weight conditioner can be used alone or with the cream conditioner you are using now. It contains hydrolyzed soy protein and keratin amino acids. Which basically means the protein strengthens your hair from the inside out, allowing it to withstand more heat styling and chemical processing. While the keratin makes your hair shiny and smooth.
Little tip: If you spray Papaya Leave-in Moisture Spray in your hair before you get in the pool your hair won't soak up as much of the chlorine filled water.
Mention my blog when you come in to buy Papaya Leave-in Moisture Spray and receive 20% off this featured product through the month of July. Don't forget to tell your friends and family. Now you are in the know...I mean in the glow.

Hair secret #1: What to do when you don't want to shampoo or don't have time...

One of the huge frustrations in my life, dating back to around 5Th grade, is my hair. I have fine, straight, thin, limp hair. Now for all you thick, curly haired people, don't hate. It is much better to have thick hair, you can always thin it out. For curly hair, you can always straighten it, yes it may take a while, but at least it will stay that way. OK, I've had my pity party. Everyone has frustrations with their own hair, and I know everyone wishes for what they don't have. My hope is that some of my little tips will help alleviate some of your frustrations.

Baby Powder...yes, regular old baby powder. This is my secret to achieving perfect "second day hair". If you are one of those people who shampoo your hair every day, try this trick. (Side note:Shampooing and styling every day can cause color to fade faster and too much heat styling can damage your hair.) Instead of shampooing every day sprinkle a small amount of baby powder in your hands, rub together, flip your head over, and then rub your hands through the top and sides of your scalp. The baby powder will soak up any excess oils and give your hair an instant lift. Now, for those of you that shampoo every couple days, baby powder can still refresh your hair and give you lift and ease when styling.

A few things to be conscience of,
    1. Baby powder can "matte" out your hair. You might want to add a little shine spray to your finished style. I recommend S Factor Shiny Happy People Shine Spray .
    2. If you have brown to dark brown hair you might want to try a hair powder that is tinted. The white baby powder does not blend as well in darker hair. I recommend Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder in blondish. I know what you are thinking, 'blondish, that will be too light'. Trust me, it is darker than you think.
    3. Remember to give yourself a thorough shampoo the next time you wash your hair. Build up can occur if any powder is left on your scalp.
Let me know how it works for you. Now you are in the know...I mean in the glow.
